IMS, employees go to Sanremo
The employees, who have been protesting permanently for months, are seeking the support of singers and record companies to get the production of CDs and DVDs going again.
The IMS employees are not giving up, and are going to the Sanremo to make their voices heard. The employees at the company which used to produce CDs and DVDs are going to Italy’s most important music festival, “in order to urge the artistes and record companies to support the restart of production at the Italian company that produces and distributes CDs and DVDs,” the trade union representatives explain. “IMS and its employees have represented the history of Italian and International music for about 50 years.” So, what better place than Sanremo?
The situation at IMS, in Caronno Pertusella, is not easy. The employees are still on permanent protest, and after the bankruptcy declared in December, are waiting for an answer from the official receiver to their proposal to start production again, after having already contacted several clients.
The employees already have Vasco Rossi on their side, and Caparezza and Francesco Guccini have also given their support. “Following the promises of the last few weeks, the official receiver, and the regional and municipal authorities are working to assess and analyse, with those who have expressed an interest in purchasing IMS, the possibility of moving on to a more substantial phase,” the employees now explain. “The concern of such people as the Euro-MP, Lara Comi, is proving to be extremely important, as the biggest clients, who everybody hopes will come back to IMS, are multinationals.”
“As employees, we can’t accept the closure because of poor management and the indifference of the world of music,” the employees conclude. “We hope that the owner of the warehouse in Via Archimede, can wait for the rent to be paid, at least for as long as is necessary, which should be a few months, while the possible resumption is being assessed. This would be a considerable help to our cause.”
