Too many queues: Expo stops the play by Japan

Record entries into the Japanese pavilion; Expo and the Japanese people in charge take measures

Expo: il padiglione del Giappone

The news began to get around this morning on Facebook, on the page “Expo: io ci sono stato e tu?” (Expo: I was there, what about you?). Today (but it is feared this might be final), in the Japanese pavilion, the real “desire” of every Expo visitor (given the kilometre-long queues and waiting, which at decisive moments may extend to 7½ hours) is the play, which has been suspended, and which is an integral part of the visit.

The reason has not been made clear, but there is the valid suspicion that the people in charge of Expo2015 were hoping to make the visit to the Japanese pavilion flow better, allowing more visitors access. Although the play was short (about ten minutes), it was like a “cork”, blocking the forward movement of the visitors.

Meanwhile, the people in charge of the pavilion had to adopt another measure, in order not to be overwhelmed by the huge influx to the most popular pavilion during these last few days of Expo: the queues are now no longer continuous, but access is limited, with only one queue in the morning and another in the afternoon that respect the true capacity of the exhibition space.

Thanks to Expo Milano2015: io ci sono stato e tu? for the photo.
